Voici le compte rendu de Phil Grondin les photos prises par Corinne Ainscow lors du spectacle de Steel Panther présenté par Heavy MTL &Greenland Productions au MTelus de Montréal le 11 septembre 2023 et qui mettait également à l’affiche BRKN LOVE.

« Spray net, cheveux crêpés et couleurs fluos! »
La tournée « On The Prowl World Tour » s’arrêtait ce samedi avec les formations Brkn Love et Steel Panther au MTELUS de Montréal, le tout organisé par Heavy MTL et Greenland Productions. Spray net, cheveux crêpés et couleurs fluos étaient au rendez-vous ce soir pour le retour de Steel Panther à Montréal après plus de 4 ans lors de leur dernier passage. Un spectacle digne des années 80 était présenté avec un MTELUS plein à craquer.
BRKN LOVE
La soirée débute à 20h avec la formation Brkn Love qui aura la tâche de réchauffer la foule. Provenant directement de Toronto, cette formation canadienne a su interpréter quelques chansons de son répertoire ainsi qu’un cover du grand classique de Black Sabbath, « War Pigs ». Ayant des influences tirant vers le rock des dernières décennies, Brkn Love a offert une excellente prestation avec un rock simple, mais bien effectué d’une durée de 30 minutes. Actif depuis 2018 seulement, Brkn Love a eu de nouveaux fans puisque plusieurs spectateurs abordaient des gilets de ce groupe. Un groupe a fait bonne figure avant la venue des légendaires Steel Panther.
Steel Panther
Steel Panther entre sur scène à 21h et le parterre est maintenant plein à craquer. Fort intéressant est de constater que plusieurs personnes de différentes tranches d’âges sont au spectacle ce soir, autant les plus jeunes que les plus âgés. Entrant sur scène avec la chanson « Eyes of a Panther », la troupe de Michael Starr met le feu dans la place. Les chansons s’enchaînent et les interactions entre les membres du groupe et la foule entre chaque chanson sont des plus hilarantes. Steel Panther est reconnu comme étant un groupe parodie et humoristique du glam metal des bonnes années de ce genre fort populaire dans les années 80. Le groupe enchaîne les classiques tels que « All I Wanna Do Is Fuck (Myself Tonight) », « Death to All but Metal » et «Community Property».
Le groupe demande à une spectatrice de monter sur scène et chaque membre du groupe lui fait une chanson afin d’essayer de la conquérir pour finalement se terminer en concours de chant entre elle et le guitariste Satchel. Tout en étant humoristique, le groupe est reconnu pour aussi être très provocateur. Le groupe ne cesse de demander aux filles de la salle de leur montrer leurs seins. Demandez et vous recevez ! Le groupe invite alors plusieurs filles dans la salle de monter sur scène pour tout simplement avoir du plaisir, danser et plus encore. Encore une fois, demandez et vous recevez. Fait cocasse, je n’ai jamais vu autant de gars se mettre sur la pointe des pieds pour une raison plus qu’évidente mentionnée précédemment.
La soirée se termine avec la très célèbre « Glory Hole ». Le public sera alors conquis avec un spectacle digne du célèbre Sex, drug and rock and roll. Steel Panther a encore une fois prouvée que malgré les paroles provocantes et crues qu’ils ont, les chansons sont bien exécutées et toujours aussi entraînantes avec une belle mélodie. Les gars semblent vraiment s’amuser sur scène et un show de Steel Panther, c’est comme retourner dans le célèbre temps de Motley Crue, mais en 2023. Une soirée plus que réussi au MTELUS et le glam metal est toujours en vie avec Steel Panther et ce depuis plus de 23 ans!

“Hair Spray, backcombed hair and neon colors!”
The “On The Prowl World Tour” stopped this Saturday with the bands Brkn Love and Steel Panther at MTELUS in Montreal, all organized by Heavy MTL and Greenland Productions. Hair Spray, backcombed hair and neon colors were there this evening for the return of Steel Panther to Montreal after more than 4 years during their last visit. A show worthy of the 80s was presented with a packed MTELUS.
BRKN LOVE
The evening begins at 8 p.m. with the group Brkn Love who will have the task of warming up the crowd. Coming directly from Toronto, this Canadian group was able to perform a few songs from their repertoire as well as a cover of the great Black Sabbath classic, “War Pigs”. Having influences drawing on the rock of recent decades, Brkn Love offered an excellent performance with simple, but well-performed rock lasting 30 minutes. Active since 2018 only, Brkn Love had new fans as several spectators approached vests from this group. One group did well before the arrival of the legendary Steel Panther.
Steel Panther
Steel Panther comes on stage at 9 p.m. and the audience is now packed. Very interesting is to note that several people of different age groups are at the show this evening, both the youngest and the oldest. Entering the stage with the song “Eyes of a Panther,” Michael Starr’s troupe sets the place on fire. The songs flow one after the other and the interactions between the band members and the crowd between each song are hilarious. Steel Panther is recognized as a parody and humorous group of glam metal from the good years of this very popular genre in the 80s. The group plays classics such as “All I Wanna Do Is Fuck (Myself Tonight)”, “Death to All but Metal” and “Community Property”.
The group asks a spectator to come on stage and each member of the group makes a song for her in an attempt to win her over, ultimately ending in a singing competition between her and guitarist Satchel. While being humorous, the group is known for also being very provocative. The group keeps asking the girls in the room to show them their breasts. Ask and you receive! The group then invites several girls in the room to come on stage to simply have fun, dance and more. Again, ask and you receive. Funny fact, I have never seen so many guys stand on tiptoe for the very obvious reason mentioned above.
The evening ends with the very famous “Glory Hole”. The public will then be won over with a show worthy of the famous Sex, drugs and rock and roll. Steel Panther once again proved that despite the provocative and crude lyrics they have, the songs are well executed and still catchy with a beautiful melody. The guys really seem to be having fun on stage and a Steel Panther show is like going back to the famous days of Motley Crue, but in 2023. A more than successful evening at MTELUS and glam metal is still alive with Steel Panther for over 23 years!
