Critique d’album: Lutharo – Chasing Euphoria (15 mars 2024)

Le groupe canadien Lutharo nous revient avec leur deuxième album studio intitulé « Chasing Euphoria » sous le label Atomic Fire Records. Sorti prévue le 15 mars 2024, cet opus possède plusieurs influences de différents styles de metal. Grandement influencé par le death metal melodique à la Arch Enemy, The Agonist et par moment In Flames, Lutharo nous plonge dans leur univers combinant des éléments de death metal chaotique, heavy metal moderne et une symphonie harmonieuse.

Formé en 2014, le groupe n’hésite pas à nous proposer un son propre à eux avec ce deuxième album qui reprend le flambeau de leur premier album intitulé « Hiraeth » paru en 2021. Composé des membres suivants : Krista Shipperbottom (Chant), Victor Bucur (Guitare), Chris Pacey (Basse) et Cory Hofing (Batterie), Jeff Wilson (Guitar Live), Lutharo nous prépare tranquillement à partir à l’aventure avec la première pièce d’intro « Gates of Enchantment ». Dès les premiers instants, nous voyons que le groupe désire jouer dans la cours des grands.

« Chasing Euphoria » est l’album parfait pour toute personne désirant connaître ce groupe. Nous pouvons voir le talent de la chanteuse Krista effectuant un growl puissant par moment et qui peut enchaîner par la suite un chant plus clean. Krista peut varier avec aisance dans toutes les chansons de l’album tout en étant accompagnée par les guitares, basse et batterie qui nous proposent une mélodie agressive.

La chanson « Time to Rise » est la pièce m’ayant surpris le plus durant l’écoute de cet album. Chaque chanson possède son propre petit quelque chose qui m’a donné le goût d’en découvrir plus sur le groupe. La qualité studio de l’album est parfaite, nous pouvons entendre tous les instruments sans aucun problème et pouvons découvrir quelques petites subtilités par moment qui pourraient en surprendre quelques-uns. Nous pouvons voir que l’enregistrement et le mixage de l’album a été peaufiné afin d’offrir un produit de qualité.

Le talentueux Niklas Sundin de Cabin Fever Media a réalisé la pochette de cet album. Ayant fait un partenariat avec ce maître artistique des pochettes metal, Lutharo nous laisse paraître le sérieux que le groupe recherche et l’impact qu’ils veulent créer depuis 2018. Apportant une touche de nouveauté et un vent de fraîcheur dans le monde du death metal mélodique, cet album sera en mesure de vous faire pratiquer votre headbang à multiples occasions. Sans réinventer le style, cet album nous permet de naviguer sur un nuage pendant plus de 47 minutes. Lutharo a été en mesure de me faire découvrir de nouveau mon amour pour le death metal mélodique, style que j’ai délaissé pendant quelques années.

The Canadian group Lutharo returns with their second studio album entitled “Chasing Euphoria” under the Atomic Fire Records label. Released on March 15, 2024, this opus has several influences from different styles of metal. Greatly influenced by melodic death metal like Arch Enemy, The Agonist and at times In Flames, Lutharo immerses us in their universe combining elements of chaotic death metal, modern heavy metal and a harmonious symphony.

Formed in 2014, the group does not hesitate to offer us their own sound with this second album which takes up the torch from their first album entitled “Hiraeth” released in 2021. Composed of the following members: Krista Shipperbottom (Vocals), Victor Bucur (Guitar), Chris Pacey (Bass) and Cory Hofing (Drums), Jeff Wilson (Guitar Live), Lutharo quietly prepares us to go on an adventure with the first intro piece “Gates of Enchantment”. From the first moments, we see that the group wants to play in the big leagues.

“Chasing Euphoria” is the perfect album for anyone wanting to know this band. We can see the talent of the singer Krista performing a powerful growl at times and who can then follow up with a cleaner song. Krista can vary her voice easely in all the songs of the album while being accompanied by the guitars, bass and drums which offer us an aggressive melody.

The song “Time to Rise” is the piece that surprised me the most while listening to this album. Each song has its own little something that made me want to discover more about the group. The studio quality of the album is perfect, we can hear all the instruments without any problem and can discover some small subtleties at times which might surprise some. We can see that the recording and mixing of the album has been refined in order to offer a quality product.

The talented Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media created the cover art for this album. Having partnered with this artistic master of metal covers, Lutharo lets us see the seriousness that the band is looking for and the impact they want to create since 2018. Bringing a touch of novelty and a breath of fresh air to the world of death metal melodic, this album will be able to make you practice your headbang on multiple occasions. Without reinventing the style, this album allows us to navigate on a cloud for more than 47 minutes. Lutharo give me the opportunity to rediscover my love for melodic death metal, a style that I neglected for a few years.
