Le philosophe Allemand Nietszche a dit: «Le meilleur des philosophes est celui qui peut rire de lui-même».
Le groupe Allemand EXTIZE l’a compris avec son album «Sex, Ducks and Industrial», une magnifique caricature sur l’ensemble de la musique industrielle, qui me semble être encore aujourd’hui, le vilain petit canard de la musique. Après les premières notes de l’album, j’ai reculé sur mon divan et je me suis dis: «Mais qu’est-ce que j’écoute?» J’ai ensuite sorti mon calepin pour noter toutes les chansons que je reconnaissais dans cette pièce. Heureusement, Lex est arrivé avec une liste déjà complète de la plupart des groupes. Donc, dans cette chanson fascinante et vraiment débile, les groupes comme Combichrist, Nachtmahr, Centhron, Agonoize, Wumpscut, Suicide Commando, Kernkraft 400, Grendel, Faderhead, X-RX, Frozen Plasma, Eisenfunk, Das Ich, Blutengel et pleins d’autres sont représentés dans un combat musical, «The Industrial Kombat». L’utilisation de la chanson de «Mortal Kombat» en trame de fond est très bien choisie. La chanson thème de ce film a été composé par nul autre qu’Olivier Adams du groupe techno industriel Lord of Acid. Brillant! Je vous invite à découvrir la vidéo qui est encore plus délicieuse que la chanson elle-même. Les références sont palpables.
La deuxième chanson, «Duck Vader», commence et le délire continue. Oh que je suis contente et oh combien je ris fort. Dans une intro électronique, j’entend la fameuse «Marche Impériale» («Star Wars») de John Williams. J’adore, c’est parfait! Un peu plus loin on entend clairement, en français: «Je suis ton père». Il est facile de rire d’un classique comme «Star Wars», surtout qu’il va y avoir prochainement, la sortie du prochain volet de la saga. Mais, grâce à eux, je suis prête à aller du côté obscur avec «Duck Vader».
Pour la troisième pièce, «Into the Duckness», j’ai eu un peu de difficulté à comprendre la blague. Quand finalement j’ai enfin trouvé la référence à la chanson de Corey Hart, «Sunglasses at Night» je suis allée regarder le vidéo du sex symbol des années 80. Durant le visionnement, j’ai eu peur. C’est ça que l’on appel les DUCKFACE masculines? J’ai eu peur de me faire avaler par Corey dont la bouche est beaucoup trop proche de la caméra. J’ai rapidement compris la référence.
Dans la quatrième pièce, ils sont assez direct au but avec la chanson «Fvck Indvcktrial». À l’origine, la chanson est du groupe Aesthetic Perfection accompagné par Combichrist and X-RX. Dans la description de la pièce, on peut lire Extize ft. Extize ft. Duck. Ils ont même osé changer le mot «Fuck» par le mot «Duck» dans les paroles. Tout cela, en disant fuck au style, au look, à la musique, bref, à tout ce qui se rapproche de près ou de loin au mouvement industriel.
Pour la cinquième pièce, j’ai dû avoir recours à mon ami Marc-André Duranleau (La bible de l’industriel) pour reconnaître la référence. Je le remercie sincèrement car, sans lui, je ne l’aurais pas trouvée. Cette fois-ci, ils sont pas mal plus subtils en s’attaquant aux classiques de Das Ich. Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais avec un titre comme «Duck Style», j’avais pensé à la chanson de PSY, celle que je n’ai pas besoin de nommer car on l’a tous beaucoup trop entendu partout. Heureusement, ils ne sont pas tombés dans le piège.
L’avant-dernière pièce, «Tanzductator», m’a encore fait rire TRÈS fort. On entend clairement la chanson «Tanz Zwo Drei Vier (TZDV)» de Faderhead, mais avec le «vier» remplacé par un bruit de canard très synthétisé. Aussi naif qu’il puisse être, ce simple bruit de canard en plastique m’a fait éclater de rire. Maintenant, le refrain est gravé à jamais dans ma tête.
Je crois qu’ils se sont sentis mal d’avoir ri du beau Corey Hart car, pour la dernière pièce, ils lui ont offert une vraie reprise de la pièce «Sunglasses at night». Oui oui, ils rejouent le clin d’oeil de la troisième pièce mais, avec les vrais paroles.
Personnellement, il y a longtemps que je n’avais pas ri autant en écoutant un album, encore moins de style industriel. Je ne crois pas que cet album soit fait de manière méchante. Je crois plus, que c’est une belle caricature qui dénonce que le style revient toujours plus ou moins au même et que malgré sa belle évolution, ça n’aboutit à rien de plus. De mon côté, je vais faire la promotion de cet album à toutes les personnes que je connais qui aiment le style. Je souhaite que les gens vont comprendre le message sans s’offusquer.
Cet album se mérite un 10/10 + un canard !!!

The German band Extize has understood ths with its album «Sex, Ducks and Industrial», a wonderful caricature of the whole industrial music, which seems to me even today, the ugly duckling of the music. (Yes, I dared to say it). I mention you right away that you can download the album here.
After the first notes of the album, I sat back on my couch and said, «But what do I hear?». I then took out my notebook to record all the songs I recognized in this first track. Fortunately, Lex arrived with an already comprehensive list of most groups. So in this fascinating and really silly song, groups like Combichrist, Nachtmahr, Centhron, Agonoize, Wumpscut, Suicide Commando, Kernkraft 400, Grendel, Faderhead, X-RX, Frozen Plasma, Eisenfunk, Das Ich, Blutengel and many others are represented in a musical battle, «The Industrial Kombat». The use of the song from «Mortal Kombat» as backbone of this track is well chosen. The theme song of this film was composed by none other than Oliver Adams from the technoindustrial group Lord of Acid. Brilliant! I invite you to discover the video that is even more delicious than the song itself. The references are palpable.
The second song, «Duck Vader», begins and continues in the same delirium. Oh I am happy and oh how I laughed loudly. In an electronic intro, I hear the famous «Imperial March» (the Darth Vader’s theme song from «Star Wars») composed by John Williams. I love it, it is great! A little further in the song is clearly heard, in French: «Je suis ton père» (I am your father). It is easy to laugh at a classic like «Star Wars», especially since there will be soon, the release of the next installment of the saga. But thanks to them I am ready to go to the dark side with «Duck Vader».
In the third song, «Into the Duckness», I had a little trouble understanding the joke. When I finally found the reference to Corey Hart‘s song, «Sunglasses at Night», I went to watch the video of the sex symbol of the 80s. During the viewing, I was destabilized. Is this what we call a male DUCKFACE? I was afraid of being swallowed by Corey whose mouth is far too close to the camera. I quickly understood that reference to the «Duckness».
In the fourth track, they are fairly straightforward to the point with the song «Fvck Indvcktrial». Originally, the song is from the group Aesthetic Perfection accompanied by Combichrist and X-RX. In the description of the song, it can be read Extize ft. Extize ft. Duck. They even dared to change the word «Fuck» with the word «Duck» in the lyrics. All this while saying fuck to the style, the look, the musical style, in short, to everything that is approaching near and far to the industrial movement.
For the fifth song, I had to use the help of my friend Marc-André Duranleau (My dictionary for industrial music) to recognize the reference. I sincerely thank him because without him, I would not have found it. This time, they are quite subtle in addressing the classic of Das Ich. I do not know why, but with a title like «Duck Style», I thought of the song from the band PSY, the one I do not need to pinpoint as it was all too heard everywhere. Fortunately, EXTIZE have not fallen into the trap.
The penultimate track, «Tanzductator» again made me laugh VERY loud. It clearly refers to the song «Tanz Zwo Drei Vier (TZDV)» from Faderhead, but with the » vier » replaced by a synthesized duck sound. As naive as it is, this simple plastic duck noise made me laugh. Now the chorus is forever etched in my mind.
I think they felt bad cause they laughed about the handsome Corey Hart because for the last song, they did a real cover of the song «Sunglasses at Night». Yes yes, they play of more serious version of the third song, with the real lyrics.
Personally, it has been a while since I laughed so much listening to an album, much less in the industrial style. I do not think that this album was made in a nasty way. I think that it is a beautiful caricature that denounces that the industrial style always revolves around more or less the same thing, and that despite its beautiful evolution, it ended up to nothing more. For my part, I will promote this album to all the people I know who like the style. I hope that people will understand the message without being offended.
This album deserves a 10/10 + a duck
