Dix bonnes années de carrière déjà pour le quatuor Français ENTROPIA INVICTUS, qui nous arrive avec un nouvel album, «Human Pantocrator», dont rien que la pochette nous laisse présager un univers toujours aussi grandiloquent.
Et effectivement nous avions tapé juste, puisque dès les prémices de la première piste «I Will Overcome», on prend de plein fouet ce mélange de Black/Death Metal et de nappes atmosphériques. Les instruments sont puissants, les vocaux ténébreux et véloces, mais le tout est accompagné par des chœurs planant tout autour et rendant l’ambiance très originale. Elle en devient même de plus en plus théâtrale et massive par l’intervention de passages orchestraux d’abord assez discrets, car se rangeant suite à l’introduction entendue sur «Euphoria’s End» par exemple. Ceci avant de devenir un élément central, comme durant «In The Attic».
L’ambiance réussit à devenir encore plus sombre avec «Cosmogenic Pandemonium», mais ce que ce titre veut établir sera détruit par l’interlude davantage intriguant qu’est «Kurzweil’s Dream». Elle devient également plus pesante sur les chansons suivantes, tout en étant entrecoupée par des passages orchestraux faisant jaillir de la lumière de ces profondeurs. Cela sera moins le cas avec «Imperfect God», où ENTROPIA INVICTUS dégainera toute sa violence.
Il résulte du mélange entre Metal poussé vers les plus profondes ténèbres et fraîcheur orchestrale un monde musical innovant, car si ENTROPIA INVICTUS a beau ne pas être le seul groupe du genre, il n’en oublie pas d’apporter des touches propres à lui-même au sein de ce «Human Pantocrator».

Nearing ten good years into its career, the French quartet ENTROPIA INVICTUS arrives with a new album, «Human Pantocrator», for which the cover suggests a world as ever grandiloquent.
And indeed I guessed right, since from the beginnings of the first track «I Will Overcome», we take full force this mixture of Black/Death Metal and atmospheric layers. The instruments are powerful, the vocals are fast and dark, but the whole is accompanied by ethereal choirs making the atmosphere very original. It becomes even more and more theatrical and massive with the intervention of orchestral passages at first rather discreet, as they disappear after the introduction heard on «Euphoria’s End» for example. Later they become a central element, as during «In The Attic».
The atmosphere gets even darker with «Cosmogenic Pandemonium« , but what this title wants to establish will be destroyed by the intriguing interlude that is «Kurzweil’s Dream». It gets heavier on the following songs, while being interspersed with orchestral passages sprinkling light into these depths. This will be less the case with «Imperfect God», where ENTROPIA INVICTUS unleashes all its violence.
The result is a Metal pushed towards its deepest darkness blended with orchestral freshness, creating an innovative musical world. Although ENTROPIA INVICTUS is not the only group of its kind, it does not forget to bring its own touch into the genre with this «Human Pantocrator».
