C’est d’Edmonton en Alberta qu’IDOLATRY lançait, en novembre 2014, une première galette de son Black Metal superbement haineux et incisif. Composé de quatre pièces pour un peu plus de 25 minutes de durée totale, l’effort présente des pièces musicales généralement rapides et construites avec soin qui rappellent, par leur méchanceté et leur froideur, les Mayhem, Darkthrone et Gorgoroth d’antan. L’efficacité est donc au rendez-vous, même si la bande ne sort pas trop des sentiers battus musicalement parlant. C’est donc Lörd Matzigkeitus avec ses incantations, hurlements déments et vociférations variées et exécutées avec une conviction effrayante qui vient distinguer le groupe du lot. En somme, très bel effort des Albertains, mais on en voudrait plus!
Il a depuis fait paraître «Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse (A Key to the Room of Sadness)» que je vous mets ci-dessous, un single qui ne se retrouve que sur «Infection Born of Ending», un split vinyl 7″ avec le groupe états-uniens de l’Ohio, Unrest.

It is from Edmonton, Alberta that IDOLATRY launched in November 2014, the first demo of its superbly hateful and incisive Black Metal. Consisting of four tracks for a little more than 25 minutes, the effort has generally fast and carefully crafted songs that recall, for their wickedness and coldness, the old Mayhem, Darkthrone and Gorgoroth. The efficiency is there, even though the band does not come out too much from the beaten path musically speaking. So it is Lörd Matzigkeitus with his incantations, demented screams and varied shouts executed with frightening conviction that distinguishes the band from the pack. In short, it is a very good effort from the Albertans, but we want more!
They released earlier this year «Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse (A Key to the Room of Sadness)», a single that appears exclusively on «Infection Born of Ending», a limited split release with Ohio’s UNREST on 7″ vinyl.
