First of all, how did it come about that “The Greenery” became your name?

When we started the band, every band’s name had something to do with Death or Dying or Blood or whatever, so we wanted something completely different. We were in High School, whatever.

Leave alone the comparisons that are made of your sound and please give us your main influences as musicians.

Slayer, Pantera, early Metallica, The Misfits, etc…

You play Hardcore/Punk, are some punk fans put off by the added aggression or are they able to appreciate the music for what it is?

I think they can just appreciate it for what it is. Punk has always felt aggressive in some way to us, so our sound isn’t too far-fetched.

You have now a few releases under your belt, what’s been the biggest eye-opener (in general) learning and growing in this music industry?

Things are just kind of bullshit. Nothing is real until you are in that moment and it is happening.

Matt, you are full-out all the time, very intense vocally. What kind of preparation do you have before a show or during a tour?

Drinking beer and wearing my lucky « Toxic Holocaust » shirt. Which, it’s not actually a lucky shirt, cause I’ve had great shows and awful shows wearing it. It’s more a really disgusting comfort thing.

How involved is Paul Miner in the production process? Is he more of a laid-back type of guy or maybe ‘aggressive’ with multiple suggestions?

He’s a laid back guy. He has his input, but he’s not the type that just says « No » flat out. It seems like he wants to help you make YOUR record, and is very encouraging. Great dude.

The new artwork for “It’s Looking Grim” fits the title, but also looks like a Black metal album. Who did this and what was the thought process behind the title/artwork?

Our buddy Kingston shot the photo, and our friend Buzzy did the font logo and helped edit the photo. We just really like that darker, gloomy, black metal-esque art. It looks cool, and we love black metal. So why not just go for that?

Being so close to the release date, is it tempting yet ‘dangerous’ to throw in a few new songs into the set without the fans having heard them?

We have a solid mix of new songs and old songs. Nothing dangerous about it, it’s just going to be fun.

You’ve traveled the world and all regions of the world have their “prefered style” of music. What’s the most difficult place for you to go to and be understood? What’s the best place for your beat?

We’ve had great shows in the same spots we’ve had awful shows. No place is tougher to be understood than another. We just try hard and have fun. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We’re doing our thing.

Comeback Kid are well-liked in Canada, for obvious reasons, what do you expect on this canadian tour?

Long drives, overpriced cigarettes and booze, but some incredibly fun shows with some rad bands we respect.
