J’ai enfin pu écouter le nouvel album d’une formation que j’aime beaucoup, DEVIL-M. La formation Industrial Metal d’Allemagne, qui existe depuis 2009, est composée de Max Meyer (Vocals & Percussion), Vøid (Guitar), Julian Hemken (Drums & Sampling) et Rotny (Bass). C’est une formation que j’aime beaucoup pour le mélange de musique Metal agressive et de musique Industrial/Electronic, comme les Allemands savent le faire. Je dis les Allemands car ce sont des amalgames de mélodies que l’on retrouve surtout dans la musique Industrial allemande. L’ironie de la chose, c’est que ce genre musical a été popularisé aux États-Unis par des groupes comme Psyclon Nine et Dawn of Ashes. Si je ne me trompe pas, Terminal Choice serait dans les pionniers du genre en Allemagne.
Pour revenir à notre sujet principal, ça fait plus d’un an que je vous ai parlé de cette formation quand j’ai fait la revue de son album précédent,«Revenge of the Antichrist», ici sur Ondes Chocs et j’avais très hâte de vous en reparler. Dans la grande famille du genre Industrial, mon style préféré est le mélange d’Industrial et de Metal. Mes oreilles s’ouvrent grandement et savourent la brutalité dansante. Personnellement, ça me fait passer par pleins de sentiments agréables et ça me donne envie de danser comme une folle, ma tête se mouvant d’un côté à l’autre sur la pulsation rythmique de la musique. Bon. Je vais arrêter de rêver et je vais vous parler de l’album.
L’album commence avec les pièces «Human Being», «Savior Self» et «Incited Volition» et on reconnaît tout de suite la couleur musicale agressive et violente de DEVIL-M. J’en suis très heureuse. On arrive à la pièce «Zeitgeist» et je reconnais un peu moins la couleur mais c’est vraiment excellent. Un pièce avec une musicalité beaucoup plus Electro Dark. Il continue sur la même note avec la pièce «Federal Emergency Mass Assassination».
On enchaîne ensuite avec une pièce plus tranquille, «Dharmachakra of Christianity» . Si Marilyn Manson faisait encore de la bonne musique, ça pourrait ressembler à ça. C’est tout nouveau pour moi venant de DEVIL-M. J’aime vraiment la voix très grave et sensuelle.
L’album fait une pause de musique agressive avec les deux pièces suivantes, «Outside the Hollow» et «Rothschild pt1». Des pièces qui sont minimalistes. La courte pause prend fin avec «Rothschild pt2». Le yoyo entre une musique agressive et une musique plus minimaliste et douce continue jusqu’à la fin de l’album.
Je trouve que le groupe est devenu plus mature et a décidé d’oser autre chose que l’album précédent. Il y a plus de variations musicales et de variations des voix. C’est beau de voir l’évolution d’un groupe qu’on aime beaucoup musicalement. Les pièces sont courtes et complètes. Ma pièce coup de cœur est «Evalslave». Elle a tout ce que j’aime musicalement dans l’Industrial et elle est parfaite pour se défouler sur un plancher de danse.
Comme j’étais vendue d’avance, je n’ai pas le choix de donner un 13/10 à ce nouvel album. J’encourage tout le monde qui aime le style à aller écouter les albums précédents et à les suivre sur les réseaux sociaux.

I finally listened to the new album of a band that I love very much, DEVIL-M. Created in 2009, the German Industrial Metal band is composed of Max Meyer (Vocals & Percussion), Vøid (Guitar), Julian Hemken (Drums & Sampling) and Rotny (Bass). This is a band that I like a lot for mixing aggressive Metal music and Industrial/Electronic music, as the Germans know how to do. I say the Germans because there is an amalgam of melodies that are found mostly in German Industrial music. The irony of the matter is that this musical genre has been popularized in the USA by groups like Psyclon Nine and Dawn of Ashes. If I am not mistaken, Terminal Choice would be one of the pioneers of the genre in Germany.
To return to our main subject, it has been more than a year since I talked to you about this band when I wrote a review about its previous album «Revenge of the Antichrist» which you can read here and I was looking forward to talk about it again. In the large family of the Industrial genre, my favorite style is the mix of Industrial and Metal. My ears open wide and savor the danceable brutality. Personally, it makes me go through full of pleasant feelings and it makes me want to dance like crazy, my head moving from side to side on the rhythmic pulsation of the music. Well, I should stop dreaming and talk about the album.
The album begins with the songs «Human Being», «Savior Self» and «Incited Volition» and I recognize at once the aggressive and violent musical color of DEVIL-M. I am very happy. «Zeitgeist» is different from what I heard from them so far but it is really excellent. It is a song with a much more Electro Dark musicality. It continues on the same note with «Federal Emergency Mass Assassination».
«Dharmachakra of Christianity» is a quieter song. If Marilyn Manson was still composing good music, it might sound like that. It is an all new sound to me coming from DEVIL-M. I really like the deep and sensual vocal.
The album takes a pause from aggressiveness with the following two songs, «Outside the Hollow» and «Rothschild pt1» which are minimalist. The short pause ends with «Rothschild pt2». From then, the yoyo between aggressive music and more minimalist and soft music continues until the end of the album.
I consider the group to be more mature now allowing to dare something different than the previous album. There is more musical and vocal variety. It is very nice to hear the evolution of a band that I love very much musically. The songs stay short but still pack all things to be complete. My favorite song is «Evalslave». It has everything I love musically in the Industrial music and it is perfect to let off steam on a dance floor.
Since I not only enjoyed very much the whole album but also this musical evolution it proposes, I have no choice but to give a 13/10 to this new album. I encourage everyone who loves its style to go listen to the previous albums and follow them on social networks.
