Mis à part celles et ceux ayant eu l’occasion de découvrir BORN TO BURN par quelques morceaux ou en concert, nous ne sommes pas encore tellement à connaitre le groupe français puisque celui-ci n’existe que depuis 2013 et n’avait qu’un démo à nous mettre à l’oreille. Maintenant qu’il vient tout juste de sortir son premier album autoproduit, l’erreur éventuelle aura de quoi être corrigée. Alors allons dès à présent faire un tour vers son «Welcome To Reality».
On ne sait pas exactement ce que le groupe a voulu dégager en guise de bienvenue, les premières secondes de «Welcome» voyant retentir une sirène. Cependant celle-ci signe t-elle immédiatement la révolte ou bien s’agit-il du code autoritaire d’un ostentatoire gouvernement? On ne peut en être sûr, mais quoi qu’il en soit BORN TO BURN a véritablement décidé de lancer un renversement digne de ce nom par le biais de ce disque. Il le prouve d’ailleurs dès cette première piste en envoyant rapidement tout valser avec une féroce puissance au cours de cette introduction instrumentale d’un peu plus de deux minutes, donnant néanmoins le ton pour la suite. Effectivement, BORN TO BURN continue de déployer une certaine violence, tout en sachant la canaliser en seconde partie de «Who Are You» par ses soli fleurant bon le heavy à l’ancienne. On note aussi d’autres interventions noisy reflétant cette sensation d’un peuple en difficulté, en particulier lors des prémices du marteleur «Hammer», frappant dur après jusqu’à enfoncer le clou dans son final tapageur.
La violence de BORN TO BURN devient davantage rageuse durant «Seven» et «Finish Him», ce qui ne s’avère pas pour autant une fatalité pour «Welcome To Reality» qui saura également rebondir par d’autres voies. Notamment avec l’énigmatique et déstructuré «Dark Walk» ou encore «Loud», qui lui aura l’occasion de se faire inquiétant sur sa première partie.

Apart from those who have had the opportunity to discover BORN TO BURN, since their formation in 2013, through a few songs from their demo or in concert, we are not yet so many to know the French group. Now that they have just released their self-produced first album, this mistake could be rectified. Let’s now explore this «Welcome To Reality».
It is unclear exactly what the group wanted to state right from the start as the first seconds of «Welcome» brings the sound of an air-raid siren. Is it the sound of revolt or is it the the sound announcing the curfew imposed by an ostentatious government? One can not be sure, but anyway BORN TO BURN truly decided to start a turmoil through this album. They prove it in this first track by quickly sending everything flying around with ferocious power during the instrumental introduction clocking at a little more than two minutes and setting the tone for what follows. Indeed, BORN TO BURN continue to deploy some violence, well channelled in the second portion of «Who Are You» through soli done old school Heavy Metal style. There is also other noisy interventions reflecting the feeling of people in difficulty, especially from the start of the thumping «Hammer», which keep hitting hard to finally drive down the nail in its boisterous final.
The violence of BORN TO BURN becomes more furious during «Seven» and «Finish Him», which does not prove a fatality so far for «Welcome to Reality» that will also bounce through other channels. Especially with the enigmatic and unstructured «Dark Walk» or «Loud», which is disturbing in its first portion.
