Après son EP «Shatter», le groupe français de Melodic Death Metal BEYOND CHRONICLES a décidé de doubler le contenu entre celui-ci et son nouveau CD «Human Nation». Deux fois plus de plaisir ou deux fois trop long?
En passant par la case album, le band en a profité pour cette fois-ci nous sortir d’emblée une introduction instrumentale: «Ground Zero». On se retrouvait presque étonné de ne pas en avoir une sur l’EP sorti auparavant, mais sa durée avait certainement été la cause du choix de BEYOND CHRONICLES de ne point en délivrer. L’atmosphère est désormais posée, mais l’univers musical pas encore. Surtout si vous n’aviez pas eu l’occasion de vous pencher sur son prédécesseur. Il vous faudra donc attendre un peu plus d’une 1.30 minute afin de le découvrir via «Cold Vengeance» que je vous offre d’écouter plus bas. Celle-ci permet notamment d’assister au match entre les deux chants, le hurlé et le clair, se défiant tour à tour et sachant même parfois se chevaucher. L’amalgame fonctionne particulièrement bien, ceci tout autant sur un titre plus sombre, «Trebuchet», que sur un davantage rageur, «Last Transmission».
De l’alchimie créée par cette doublette peut même parfois ressortir quelque chose d’étonnant. Là où on le ressent peut-être le plus, c’est au cours du final de la chanson «Human Nation». Celui-ci sonnant bon le mélodique mélancolique, sur une plage suffisamment longue pour être relevé. Cela valant également pour le terme de «We’ll March On«, car si les deux possèdent des approches différentes, ils n’en évoluent pas moins dans des sphères semblables. «Beyond the Dark» préfère s’en démarquer immédiatement, en balançant un monde maléfique d’emblée, où le chant hurlé se fait plus ténébreux que jamais.
Avec désormais un monde plus établi grâce à une quantité de pistes augmentée, ainsi qu’une dualité vocale toujours au top, le groupe français de Melodic Death Metal, BEYOND CHRONICLES risque même avec «Human Nation» d’apporter davantage que deux fois plus de plaisir.

After its EP «Shatter», the French Melodic Death Metal group BEYOND CHRONICLES decided to double the content for its new CD «Human Nation». Twice as much fun or only twice the length?
Now in a full-length album format, the band thought it was time to bring an instrumental introduction: «Ground Zero». I was almost surprised not to have one on the EP released before, but its duration had certainly been the cause of that choice. The atmosphere is now posed, but not the musical universe yet. Especially if you did not have the opportunity to listen to its predecessor. You will just have to wait a little more than a 1.30 minute to discover it via «Cold Vengeance» (that I put in the text so you can listen to it). This one allows to witness the match between the two vocals, the scream and the clean, confronting themselves but also sometimes overlapping. The amalgam works particularly well, as much on a dark track like «Trebuchet» or on a more raging one like «Last Transmission».
Of the alchemy created by this duo can even sometimes come out something amazing. Where it may be felt the most is during the finale of the song «Human Nation» where it carries a good melancholic melody, on a portion of the song long enough to really appreciate it. This is also true for «We’ll March On», because if they both have different approaches, they still evolve in similar spheres. «Beyond the Dark» stands out on its own, proposing an evil world right from the start, where the screaming vocal is darker than ever.
With a more established musical universe thanks to an increased number of tracks, as well as a vocal duality always at the top, the French Melodic Death Metal outfit, BEYOND CHRONICLES even risks with «Human Nation» to bring more than twice the pleasure.
